UNDIP, Semarang (5/5/2025) – Diponegoro University (Undip) again showed its attention to the welfare of the academic community through the official release of prospective pilgrims from Undip’s extended family. This event was held in the Rector’s Conference Room located on the 2nd floor of Widya Puraya Building.
The event began at 14.00 WIB with an atmosphere full of solemnity and warmth. Beginning with the recitation of the holy verses of the Qur’an and remarks from the committee, this event was attended by the Undip Rector, university leaders and Undip DSDM, as well as prospective pilgrims from various work units. Prof. Dr. Adian Fatchur Rochim, S.T., M.T. as the Vice Rector III of Human Resources, Information Technology, Law and Organization, in his speech expressed his appreciation and prayers for the prospective pilgrims.
“Alhamdulillah, this year there are 38 prospective pilgrims from Undip. Hopefully the entire worship process will be given smoothness and health,” he said. He also had time to share personal stories about the experience of performing the hajj pilgrimage, including logistical challenges such as tents in Mina that were not enough to accommodate pilgrims and the importance of maintaining physical fitness during the trip.

The atmosphere became an unforgettable magical moment when the representative of the prospective pilgrims, Prof. Dr.Ing. Ir. Suherman, S.T., M.T. expressed his gratitude to the university leaders and related parties. “This pilgrimage for us is not only a physical journey, but also a soul journey towards closeness to Allah,” he said gratefully.

The event then continued with remarks from Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. He raised personal reflections on his spiritual journey during the Hajj which touched his heart. He also recalled his childhood who liked to read old school magazines such as Tempo, and liked to follow the side note stories, one of which was about the author’s trip around the world. He expressed his confusion and amazement about the reason why the author finally concluded that of all the cities he had visited, from Paris, Rome, to Tokyo, the author actually said that for some reason there was only one city that he always missed, namely Mecca. The author said, “Of all the cities I have visited and seen, this hot city is the city I miss.” Said the rector of Undip, surprised and amazed.
The Rector also emphasized the importance of making the Hajj pilgrimage a turning point in character building. “Personal piety should not stop at oneself, but also have an impact on social piety. A mabrur hajj is a hajj that is able to form a new person, become a more caring person, and bring more benefits to the environment around him,” he said.

The event was closed with a joint prayer and farewell greetings from the rector. “We are happy to release all of you to fulfill this lifetime obligation. Take care of yourself, keep the good name of the alma mater campus, and please pray that Undip will always be given smoothness and blessings,” he concluded with a sincere and happy tone.

UNDIP, Semarang (5/5/2025) – In a cool temperature room located on the second floor of Widya Puraya Building (Rector’s Conference Room), the atmosphere that usually feels so formal today suddenly turns warm and familiar. Light laughter was heard, greetings between colleagues flowed smoothly and quietly. Today Diponegoro University gives something that nothing can buy. A sense of appreciation, memorable moments and sincere love.
In the event “The Release of Retired Civil Servants for the period January – April 2025 and the submission of the Diponegoro University KORPRI Setiakawan fund”, Undip not only released its employees who were retiring but also shared its love and celebrated the dedication of the employees.
A Warm Greeting that is Not a Farewell
The Rector of Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. delivered a “farewell” greeting that felt more like a hug. Showing his real respect as a leader to Undip servants.
“Undip would not be this good except without the services of all ladies and gentlemen, I think religious teachings also say so. There are 3 things that are eternal; charity, useful knowledge and prayers of pious children. I believe that if we intend to contribute to providing useful knowledge, you and I have at least left one of these eternal things on this campus,” he said, both respectful and proud.

He believes that small gifts can actually become big memories that students will never forget. As well as the dedication of undip employees who were released that day.
Furthermore, the Rector also said that even though Undip is a large campus, it is still always not free from imperfections so he appealed to take something good, based on love. Good or bad as long as love does not matter so that the heart is comfortable and there are no regrets at all during your retirement.
The event then continued with the handover of loyalty funds to employees who had retired, as a symbol of solidarity and togetherness from KORPRI UNDIP. It was given not only to those who were present, but also to the families representing the employees who had passed away.
Chairman of the Undip Wredatama Association, Prof. Dr. Ir. Y. S. Darmanto, M.Sc. said,
“At least the first 3 months after retirement, don’t get sick. Stay enthusiastic, healthy and don’t forget to pray to be safe. Gather with friends to share experiences with each other. That is the key to happiness in retirement,” he said, greeted by warm applause from the audience.

The most touching moment was the delivery of messages and impressions from Dra. Diana Rusmawati, M.Psi, representing the retired civil servants, she conveyed how emotional the moment was. Not because of grief but feelings of love.
“Previously we were probably still busy making RPS, filling in SISTER Undip, and even trying to just understand the new system again which for me was extraordinary. But today it doesn’t feel like me and my friends have officially become alumni. Alumni is not only where we serve but also learn, grow, increase but also tired. But we will still love Diponegoro University. Believe that we have made a wholehearted effort and done the best we could.”

She represented all former civil servants to express his gratitude for the warm trust from colleagues at Undip and also the students who have become their source of enthusiasm in serving. His hope and the Executives in the future UNDIP will become more advanced, superior, become an inspiring, inclusive space and benefit the surrounding environment.
The event ended with a group photo session and also closed with greetings and warm hugs to each other.
